The Literacy and Numeracy Screening (LINUS) programme is aimed at ensuring all Malaysian pupils would acquire basic literacy and numeracy skills after three years of mainstream primary education.

By acquiring basic English literacy skills, pupils are expected to be able to read, write and understand words, simple and complex sentences (using conjunctions) in English and apply such knowledge for learning and everday conversation.
